Number of daily video views on Facebook grows to 4 billion

The number of video views on Facebook has grown to 4 billion per day. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg showed the numbers at the presentation of the quarterly numbers from the social networking site. The number of users active in the past month, rose to 1.44 billion.

Three quarters of video views on the social network comes from mobile users. In September last year, it was reported that Facebook still showed more than 1 billion videos every day to users; now there are 4 billion. The network counts a view if a user has seen at least three seconds of a video.

The quarterly report show that the number of daily active users, on average, increased to 936 million. That’s 46 million more than in the previous quarter. By far the most daily active users use Facebook through a mobile device: nearly 800 million.

Revenues for the first quarter of 2015 was 3.5 billion dollars. Especially sales grew from mobile ads. The company made about $ 509 million quarterly profit.
