Nike is headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon. The headquarters for Europe, Middle East, and Africa is located in Hilversum since 1999. The European distribution center is located in Forest in Belgium. Since 1994, the shoes and clothes of Nike spread across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, known as EMEA. Since October 2007, there are also accessories (balls, drinking bottles, socks, etc.) being distributed from there.
Co-founder Bill Bowerman was a former Olympian and coach on the US Oregon University and actively involved in the development of better equipment and better training methods for athletes. Bowerman was trying to get the most out of his athletes and their equipment. This dual approach made him a successful athletics trainer.
