LinkedIn Sign up – Professional Social networking site

January 29, 2015January 29, 2015 by Shaun Snow

How to Sign Up For LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a social network designed to cater to the specific needs of business networking rather than casual updates and keeping in touch with friends. It is a essentially a website where you can build your professional profile, make contacts and possibly find a job for yourself or ways to expand your business if you are a business owner. LinkedIn is an extremely popular site, possibly because it is the best site in its category, thanks to its easy to use interface and simple, professional design.

Can’t wait to dive in and make some contacts? Here’s how you can sign up:

Step One: Go to Linkedin.com

First things first: go to the LinkedIn website at www.linkedin.com. Here’s what you’ll get:
LinkedIn HomePage
See that little form right on the home page? That’s the first step in signing up. Put in your name, email address and a password you think is suitable and click “Join Now”.

Step Two: Enter your details

You will be taken to a page that looks like this:
LinkedIn Signup
Enter your details into the spaces provided. You can specify whether you are an employee looking to expand his professional contacts portfolio, a job seeker looking for employment, or a student trying to get a head start before diving in. Once you’re done, click on “create my profile”.

Step Three: Import contacts

This page should appear:
LinkedIn Email
Basically, LinkedIn is asking for your email address so that it can scan your contacts list for people already using their services. This will make it easier for you to connect with pre-existing contacts already using linked in. Once you’re done, move on to the next step.

Step Four: Confirm account

This window should appear:
LinkedIn confirmation
LinkedIn is now asking you to confirm your identity by logging into your email account through their website. Once you click on “confirm my account” a window will appear asking for your email address and password. Once you’ve logged in, this window will appear:
LinkedIn registration
Click “accept” and move on to the next step.

Step Five: Add more contacts

This window will have now appeared on your screen:
LinkedIn suggestions
These people are suggested by LinkedIn to get your circle of contacts going. You can choose whether you want to connect with any of the suggested people or not, and then move on.

Step Six: Download the app

LinkedIn will now ask for your phone number like this:
LinkedIn number
LinkedIn is basically asking for your number so that they can send you a text message with a link to their App, so that you can use the site on the go using your smartphone or tablet.

Step Seven: Free or premium

This should now be on your screen:
LinkedIn account
Select whichever account you prefer (you can try the premium account for one week for free) and once you’re done, congratulations! You now have an official LinkedIn account! It was that simple.

Happy networking!
