The app suggestions from Google Now Launcher is useful, but not everyone uses them. We show you how to disable it simple and quick.
Turn off App suggestions
With the release of Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) Google Now Launcher received an update. For example, the launcher now scrolls vertically instead of horizontally, apps are listed alphabetically. The so-called app suggestions are added with four apps at the top of the launcher. The homescreen replacement suggests apps you use every day. If you, for example, start in the evening often the YouTube app, then it will automatically appear at the top so you can it start faster.
If you however don’t use the app suggestions, you can also easily disable the feature. Follow the steps below.
- Open the Google app and tap on the top left menu;
- Choose the “Settings” option;
- Tap under the heading ‘Start Screen’ on the switch behind “App suggestions”. Press ‘Disable” to confirm your choice.
When app suggestions are off, applications are shown the regular way into the Google Now Launcher. This means that apps with the first letter “A” or number are at the top. Do you want to use the later option anyway, then you simply go through the steps again.
