Sign Up For YouTube for more functionality
YouTube is a website that provides video sharing services. It has become the most popular video sharing web site in the world, and, with YouTube now offering shares in ad revenue to popular uploaders, “YouTuber” has become a valid occupation, and YouTube content is becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment. YouTube is great on its own, but signing up for an account allows you to take part in the YouTube community, by giving you the ability to like or dislike videos, comment on videos, make playlists of videos and so on.
If you have an account with Google, i.e. a Gmail account you do not need to make a separate account for YouTube as it is a part of Google. However, if you do not have a Google account, making one is easy!
1. Go to Accounts.google.com
To start off, go to accounts.google.com. Once you’re there, you will see a page that looks like this:
2. Create your Google Account
Click on the “Create an Account” button that’s right beneath the Sign in form! It’s the blue hypertext in the black oval in the picture in step one. Once you’ve clicked on it, you will be taken to a page that has this form on the right side:
The form is pretty easy to fill. Just put in your name and a username you want to use, and think of a password that you feel is both secure and easy to remember. Put in your birthday and gender as well as your mobile phone number (Google will send you a confirmation code on this that you will have to use to activate your account). Finally, put in an email address you have apart from the one you’re making (if you have one) and then type the letters or numbers you see in the captcha.
Look through the Terms of Service before agreeing to them and then click “Next step”!
3. Sign in on your Youtube account
You will now see something like this:
Congratulations! You now have a Gmail address! You don’t have to use the email address if you don’t want to, but you can definitely use it to access YouTube as it’s all one and the same account!
Happy streaming!
