About Goodreads.com
Goodreads was launched in 2006 and during the first year of operation the site operated without formal funds until December 2007, when it received a relatively modest investment estimated at $ 750,000 from Angel investors. In October 2010 the company opened its API to developers to use their ratings and their database of books, so it is also a good source of information for similar projects.
In 2011 the network already had five million members.
In October 2012, Goodreads announced that its membership had reached 11 million with 395,000 members rated more than 20,000 books.
